Andean Memory II

Andean Memory II begins with a gaze that looks at the language of dress without trying to pin it down. It draws from elements across Ecuador and Latin America—textiles, accessories, and ways of inhabiting the body—and places them elsewhere: not to represent, but to imagine. The garments featured in this series come from contemporary Ecuadorian designers, handcrafted pieces, and everyday objects that have been displaced from their original function. The editorial proposes a visual language that resists nostalgia and explanation, settling into a space between the familiar and the unfamiliar. It doesn’t aim to depict tradition or turn clothing into a symbol. Each composition becomes a speculative fiction—a choreography of materials and signs. From a mestiza and situated perspective, this editorial reflects on how fashion has fixed certain images and erased others. And it offers something else: a way of seeing that doesn’t aim to document reality, but to imagine what could be.
