Heifer + Reino Studios

Fundación Heifer Ecuador is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating poverty in rural communities. With a focus on sustainable development, the foundation integrates economic growth with ecosystem care, promoting food security and social equity. Reino Studios, on the other hand, is a creative hub that drives artisanal innovation, merging traditional techniques with industrial design. By collaborating with local artisans, Reino Studios adds value to their products and helps improve their quality of life.
This project aimed to document and showcase the traditional processes used by artisans in Chimborazo Province to craft products from sheep’s wool. The goal was to highlight the cultural and economic significance of these techniques, as well as their role in sustainability and local identity. The work captures every stage of the artisanal process, from shearing, washing, and carding to spinning, weaving, and dyeing.
Through this series, the project celebrates the intersection of tradition, innovation, and the enduring connection between communities and their crafts.
